Check These Five Things Before Spending
Paid advertising can put your business in front of more people quickly. But ads cannot fix a confusing offer, an unclear website or a slow follow-up process. They simply send more people towards whatever is already there.
Before you put money behind a Google, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn campaign, take a little time to make sure the foundations are ready. These five checks can help you avoid paying for clicks that have nowhere useful to go.
1. Is the offer clear?
A potential customer should be able to understand what you are offering, who it is for and why it is useful within a few seconds. “Contact us to learn more” is rarely enough on its own.
Be specific. Are you offering a free consultation, a fixed-price service, an introductory package or a quote? What problem does it solve? What should someone do next? A strong ad and landing page make the next step feel obvious.
2. Does the page match the ad?
If an ad promotes one particular service, do not send people to a general homepage and expect them to find it. Take them to the most relevant page, where the same service, language and benefit are easy to see.
This creates a smooth journey. Someone clicks because they are interested in a specific message, then immediately sees information that confirms they are in the right place. If the page feels unrelated, many visitors will leave.
3. Is there enough trust?
Most people will not enquire after seeing only a headline and a button. They also want to know whether your business looks credible and whether you can deliver what you promise.
Add real evidence where you can. This might include customer reviews, short case studies, examples of completed work, professional memberships, clear contact details or a friendly explanation of what happens after someone gets in touch. Trust is particularly important when the service is expensive, personal or involves a long-term commitment.
4. Is it easy to take the next step?
Test the page on a phone as well as a computer. Is the enquiry button easy to find? Is the form short enough to complete? Does the phone number work when tapped? Are there too many different calls to action competing for attention?
Make the first step proportionate to the decision. A person considering a large project may prefer to request a conversation rather than “buy now”. Someone looking for an urgent local service may want to call immediately.
5. Are you ready to follow up?
Advertising can create interest, but the enquiry still needs a timely, helpful response. Decide who will monitor new leads, how quickly they will reply and what information they will send.
Keep a simple record of where each enquiry came from and what happened next. Without this, you may know how many clicks you paid for but not whether those clicks produced useful conversations or customers.
Start small and learn
You do not need a huge budget to test an idea, but you do need a clear goal. Choose one offer, one audience and one action you want people to take. Track enquiries and sales, not just reach or clicks, then improve the weakest part of the journey.
Paid advertising works best when it supports solid marketing foundations. If you are unsure whether your website, message or follow-up process is ready, Brightside Marketing can help you review the full customer journey before you start spending.
